Case description:

  • The patient  - woman, date of birth: 1970 (48 years old) has undergone a planned operation for previously diagnosed right forehead lobe meningeoma (benign tumor) and intracranial artery aneurysm. In the summer of 2017, an operation was performed: meningeomal extirpation and clamping aneurysm during one operation.
    The patient was discharged from the hospital in a satisfactory condition.
  • The patient recurred at the beginning of December 2017 due to an operation wound infection. For this reason, the patient was evacuated from the trepanation bone subtype, antibacterial therapy was prescribed to the patient and she was discharged from the hospital.
  • In March 2018, the patient entered a planned operation – implantation of the Codubix skull implant carried out on 05/03/2018.

Venue and date of surgery:

  • The surgery was performed on 5th of March, 2018 in Pauls Stradiņš Clinical University Hospital, Riga, Latvia. Operating neurosurgeon: Janis Slezins (Jānis Šlēziņš). This was a first time when there was used Codubix cranial prosthesis in this hospital. Doctor Piotr Kasprzak (Poland) who is expert in cranioplastic operations with Codubix sheared his experience with Codubix with Dr. J Slezins before the surgery.
  • The duration of the surgery was about 3 hours.
  • The surgery was successful and the implant was positioned perfectly.

After surgery:

  • The patient’s condition is considered as stable.
  • The patient as a whole goes well, there is no headache, the wound is healing well.
  • Both the doctor and the relatives of the patient are satisfied with the aesthetic result of the operation.
  • The operation went without complications.
